Welcome!

I hand-carve original masks. My studio is situated in the small village of Vallsta in mid-Sweden, just where nature is developing into a more northern character with high mountains and deep valleys.

All my masks are made out of wood. I regard myself as a wood-carver.

My mask carvings are all original, one-of-a-kind designs. They are often inspired by local personalities.

I usually carve in lime tree. In Sweden, there is a tradition to use lime tree when you sculpture icons. In the old days, people in Sweden believed that lime tree would protect them against black magic. We have an exciting clerical wood sculptural tradition, and its most outstanding representative was Haaken Gulleson in the 15th century. I am indeed inspired by this Scandinavian carver Gulleson, but also by mask traditions in the Indian province of Kerala, in Bali and China.

My painted masks are painted by my wife, Mia Eberson.
